On April 30, 2024, a meeting was held at the Sub-Regional Fisheries Commission (SRFC), which brought together the EAF Nansen program team, led by its coordinator, Mrs. Merete Tandstad, and the Permanent Secretary of the Sub-Regional Fisheries Commission (SRFC) accompanied by his technical team.
The objective of the meeting was to identify priority actions for the implementation of the ASF for fisheries management targeting shared sardine stocks in Northwest Africa
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with a mutual agreement to continue the collaboration and finalize the project document as well as the MoU as soon as possible. Both sides are committed to maintaining regular communication and working closely together throughout the process.
This meeting was a significant step towards enhanced cooperation in the management of shared sardinella, demonstrating the commitment of stakeholders to strengthening sub-regional coordination for the sustainability of shared fisheries resources, such as sardinella.
